Huddle Huddle Hud

A few days ago, a friend asked ... "What is it that you really want from this life?".

I could only stare at him with a surprised expression, not because I didn't expect this question from someone at some point, but because I couldn't answer.

I was like a little kid who was caught red handed for sticking her hand into a cookie jar ... one who could only stutter when questioned. Such behaviour was unacceptable.

I simply shrugged and gave him a socially-familiar reply.

"I don't know."

Such an answer was more unacceptable by a mile.

I knew exactly what I wanted out of life. I have even planned out everything.

But in a cruel twist of fate,
If anything should take an unexpected turn,
I'll be ready to face it,
With an open heart with a beating chest,
So help me I will,
Cause I am stronger than this.

Now, ask me again.

Fumbleton

This is a first! Haha ... The girl lost her parking tic, and we paid rm20 to get a new one ... Well, beats being stuck in the basement lot? *forehead stamp*

Brussels @ Palm Square, Jaya One

I've been searching for the best carbonara around, and I think I've found it. The moment I lifted the fork and tasted the delicious fettuccine tangled around it, I knew I had to order a second bowl! How would I describe it? Orgasmic. Yes, absolutely orgasmic & indulgent. The german pork knuckle was a lil bit on the average side and the same could be said for the clams. However, the burgers there were quite juicy, while the fries were thick and crisp. The salmon salad came in a small portion just like the plate of waffles, but only that the latter was much better cause it melted in my mouth like heavenly bliss!

How We've Grown

I miss you already ... pig :(

Thanks for all the nights you've spent driving me around whenever I was sad.
Thanks for the times that you have rushed over with just one call.
Thanks for taking care of me whenever I was always a dead fish.
Thanks for being the clown in my life.
And thank you, for being one of the best friends someone could ever have.

All the best, muaxy muax !

X0 Cuisine Restaurant @ USJ 21, Subang

They're famous for their fish head dishes, but the special chic wings, yam fishballs (pic) and cantonese fried noodles are pretty tasty too :) not bad ... although the seafood tofu could have used a lil more seasoning. It's located opposite the well-known Hong Kee Dim Sum shop.

Akari @ Solaris Mont' Kiara

This restaurant is located on the 1st floor, right next to Dr Cafe. Kudos for the ambience! The sushi-sashimi bar is modeled to look like the ones you'll find in japan :) The lunch sets are at 20% off. Would recommend the salmon platter (consists of very filling hana, maki, tempura, sushi, sashimi, and temaki) which goes for RM30. The Akari Assorted Sashimi is beyond fresh and delicious too ! (priced at RM60)

Dave's @ OU

Nicely furnished place, kinda reminds me of El Cerdo. Having lunch here between class intervals would be a good idea. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms, tomato bruschetta, mushroom soup, creamy seafood penne, and lamb shank. Everything's pretty decent-tasting though the soup's a little too runny. Will probably try the chicken parmigiana next time :)
Selected pastas are at 50% off during lunch hours (12-3pm).

Opera : Carmen (Act 2 - Pastia's Inn)

[Evening at Lillas Pastia's inn, tables scattered around; officers and gypsies relaxing after dinner]
A month has passed. Carmen and her friends, Frasquita and MercédÚs were singing and and dancing in joy as they channeled the verses in melodious tunes.
"Les tringles des sistres tintaient"
Lillas Pastia was trying hard to get rid of Zuniga and his officers. They came for the gypsies, and for one especially, Carmen. Since they weren’t welcomed on the grounds of the inn, Zuniga invited Carmen and her friends to come with him to the theatre, but she could only think of seeing JosĂ© again. He was demoted and jailed since her escape, and was only freed the day before. Just before they leave, the sound of a procession hailing Escamillo passes by outside, and the toreador was invited in.
"Vivat, vivat le Toréro!"
Escamillo turns and sees Carmen. He then begins to serenade her with the Toreador song in hopes of catching her heart. He did not succeed. Carmen says that for the time being he need not dream of being hers. When everyone except he gypsies have left, the smugglers DancaĂŻre and Remendado arrive and tell the girls of their plans to dispose of the contraband they have smuggled via Gibraltar.
"Nous avons en tĂȘte une affaire"
Carmen refuses to accompany them, saying to their amazement that she is in love. Suddenly, JosĂ©'s voice is heard calling from afar. DancaĂŻre thinks, and then tells Carmen she must try to get Don JosĂ© to join them. They left hastily as they saw the Don entering. At last! Alone together again, they sat together in the company of wine, and JosĂ© returned a gold coin that Carmen had sent him in jail.
Carmen looks at him, and then vexes him with stories of her dancing for the officers. To prove her charm, she then dances with castanets for him alone … round and round in the most alluring manner a man can only wish to witness.
"Je vais danser en votre honneur ... Lalala", she sings beautifully; appearing provocative with the movement of her hips.
During her song the penetrating sound of the bugles broke through the air. They were calling the soldiers back to barracks.
Carmen's temper flared when José explained that he must leave immediately, but he made her listen by producing the flower she threw at him back at the factory, which he kept while he was in prison; a true proof of his love. Carmen, unmoved as she was, told him to join her gypsy life if he really loves her.
"Non, tu ne m'aimes pas"
Her picture of a life of freedom tempts him but he finally refuses, saying he will never be a deserter. He begins to leave when Zuniga enters hoping to find Carmen. Don José draws his sword on his superior officer, but before they can fight the smugglers burst in and disarm both of them. Zuniga is made a prisoner and José has no alternative but to flee with Carmen.

Melaka Grub II

The best time, is quality time, spent with your loved ones :)

Here's a thought that will send me into a frenzy : chicken rice balls and mille crepe cakes !
Am gonna visit mlk again soon so I'll be able to dive into a gorge fest at this back-alley stall that sells cockles. Its located at Jalan Bunga Raya, near Tan Kim Hock. Didn't manage to try the food there because they were sold out by the time we got there. The place is well recommended by locals. Note to self : standby at 6pm next time.

P.S., The chicken rice shop that we went to only serves ye olde original steamed chicken & rice balls. Thats all. Non of the other commercialized stuff on the menu, which is why I love it there ! There's a lil stall at the entrance that sells lobak-style rojak as well !
